Indian Oil produces bitumen at its refineries, including the Koyali facility, and sells it both in bulk and in steel drums. The bitumen production facility at Koyali plays a vital role in the region’s infrastructure. It is required to produce high-quality bitumen for road construction, waterproofing, and a range of industrial applications.
The production structure of the plant includes several key stages, such as crude oil distillation, bitumen extraction, and quality control. Each of these steps is critical to ensure that the final product is not only effective but also safe for use in a variety of applications.
Situation:
Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) is expanding its Koyali – Ahmednagar petroleum product pipeline to Solapur with a capacity of 5 million metric tonnes per annum. The project involves transportation of petroleum products after receiving at Solapur marketing terminal through this pipeline.
Task:
The main task is to implement reliable replacement of Steam Tracing system with our electrical heat tracing technology, to improve operational efficiency and safety of bitumen handling processes. This system is to prevent the solidification of bitumen in the pipelines, thereby reducing the risk of blockages and ensuring a smooth flow of materials.
Solution:
Our company has successfully developed and supplied an advanced electric heat tracing system for the complete bitumen terminal piping at the IOCL Bitumen Terminal in Koyali.
